Does JOFA Uganda work during pandemic or insurgency?

Yes our focus is storing hope despite pandemic like Covid-19 we work based on need assessment. We are more eager to do more in such situations and we do this with precaution and follow all safety procedures.

How long can I serve as a volunteer?

For advisory board member you can serve up to two years. Other positions you can serve from 2 weeks to 12 months.

Can married couples serve for longer period?

Yes married couples can serve up to 12 months but if you feel to serve without your spouse, you can only serve up to 6months. If you are a college or university single graduate you can serve up to 8months.

What kind of positions available?

JOFA projects and programs demand a wide range of skills, we need educators, facilitators, engineers, builders, IT specialists, photographer, web designers, blogger, mechanics, developer, social workers, modern farmers experts, preachers, etc.

What are the age restrictions?

To apply for any program volunteer must be 18 to 75 years old. However for the minor accompanied by their parents or guardians are welcome to apply. Applicant must be in good health, be aware of any physical demands of the roles for which they want to participate in.

What are the immunization requirements?

Immunization requirements dependon which country or region you’re coming from. Below are some of the immunization to be considered before traveling;

  • Yellow Fever
  • Hepatitis B
  • Covid-19 Testing
  • Tuberculosis Testing
How much will it cost one to serve with JOFA?

Volunteers are required to pay their travel expense both international and local as well as monthly expenses and all personal expenses. Please you are requested to contact flights agency for internal travel and JOFA administration for local budget during your stay.

What language do I need to know?

Uganda is a British colony therefore English is the main or national language. English proficiency is required for all volunteers, able to read and write. JOFA has language policy that requires every volunteer be it local or international staying for four weeks and above to undergo a three days local language class based on the location or area of deployment.

Does JOFA do background or criminal record checks?

A background or criminal record checks are required for some positions. However applicants are required to voluntarily declare their criminal records on their CV or application.

Can I apply if I'm not a Christian or attending church?

JOFA welcome short term volunteers who would like to give time, values, efforts and experience, regardless of believes or religion. Though majority of our staffs and volunteers follow Jesus Christ, we will consider all applicants, however there are leadership positions where we do require the applicant to be mature Christian and be strong spiritual leader in order to lead. All volunteers must have a lifestyle consistent with our core-values and willing to adhere with JOFA code of conduct.
